Slovakia Inflation March 2019

Slovakia: Inflation rises to six-month-high in March

April 17, 2019

Consumer prices rose 0.6% month-on-month in March, up from February’s 0.2% increase. The monthly uptick was chiefly led by higher prices for food and transport, and a rebound in prices for clothing and footwear.

Inflation increased to a six-month high of 2.7% in March, after coming in at 2.3% in February. Likewise, harmonized inflation also rose to 2.7% in March (February: 2.3%). Meanwhile, annual average inflation inched down to 2.6%, from 2.7% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 2.3% in 2019, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate, and 2.3% again in 2020.
