Poland: Industrial production growth surges in April
May 22, 2019
Industrial output jumped 9.2% year-on-year in April, according to the Central Statistical Office (GUS). This was up from March’s 5.6% reading, owing to a broad-based acceleration. Stronger gains in manufacturing output, and in water supply, sewerage waste management and remediation activities were recorded; and the production of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply swung from contraction to expansion. On the other hand, growth of the mining and quarrying sector moderated. In the all-important manufacturing sector, the strongest increases were recorded in manufacture of electrical equipment, and of other transport equipment.
All told, annual average growth in industrial output was stable at March’s 6.1%.
