GDP in Moldova
Moldova - GDPThe economy expanded for the third consecutive quarter in Q3 2016 and GDP increased at the fastest rate in nearly three years. On the production side, the agricultural, forestry and fishing sector, which accounts for the largest share of the economy, recorded a double-digit increase. This was followed by decent expansions in the wholesale, retail and manufacturing sectors, though monthly data show that the economy might have lost the positive momentum in the final quarter of 2016 as both industrial production and retail sales disappointed in October. The Central Bank’s monetary easing worked its way through the various transmission channels in the economy during 2016. Lower interest rates supported lending and domestic demand against the backdrop of a volatile external environment.
