GDP in Moldova
Moldova - GDPA booming agricultural sector and robust household spending led the economy to get back on track last year, after a poor performance in 2015. Available data for the first quarter suggest that growth remained healthy at the onset of 2017. An improving external environment led exports to record double-digit expansions in January and February, while industrial production growth moderated slightly in February after January’s surge. Moreover, the economy’s fundamentals have improved: the current account deficit narrowed in 2016 and progress has been made to strengthen the financial sector, prompting the IMF to greenlight USD 21.5 million in fresh funds on 28 April.
