GDP in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan - GDPThe gold-exporting economy remains on a healthy track: the official preliminary GDP estimate showed growth came in at 6.4% year-on-year in the January-June period, slightly below January-May’s 6.8%. While industrial production expanded at a solid annual rate in the most recent period, the pace of expansion was slower than recorded over the first five months of the year. A slowdown in gold production brought about the downturn. Moreover, the Permanent Court of Arbitration upheld a freeze on Centerra Gold Inc.’s cash in the government’s ongoing dispute with the company over the Kumtor mine. However, the government was ordered to give the arbitrator and the company 30 days prior notice before filing any claims related to environmental damage against the entity, effectively limiting the government’s ability to pursue the company in its court system.
