GDP in Nicaragua
Nicaragua - GDPThe economy remains in good shape, despite slowing in recent months. Economic activity in July rose thanks to the construction and hotels and restaurants sectors. In addition, recently published data shows growth was a brisk 4.3% in Q2, underpinned by a surge in exports of goods such as coffee and sugar. However, heavy rain caused by recent Storm Nate led to crop damage and will dampen agricultural activity in the current quarter. In October the U.S. House of Representatives approved the NICA Act. If it becomes law, it will limit Nicaragua’s access to international financing, which could increase borrowing costs and dampen investment.
