Unemployment rate drops to 16-month low in June
In July, the number of unemployed workers came in at 16,807, which was up 2.5% from June’s result of 16,402. Meanwhile, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate came in at 5.6% in July, down from June’s 5.7% and the lowest reading since February 2020.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project the unemployment rate to average 6.4% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast, and 6.0% in 2022.
