Population in Luxembourg
Luxembourg - PopulationRecently released data revealed that the economy grew at the fastest pace in a year in the third quarter. Private consumption edged up in Q2 as a second round of wage-indexation measures, coupled with a low unemployment rate, boosted household incomes, while upbeat government spending further buttressed the overall expansion. That said, fixed investment dipped on escalating trade tensions and lingering Brexit uncertainties. Exports, meanwhile, rebounded in Q2, defying the wider European pullback. Turning to the third quarter, however, economic growth appears to have tapered off. Souring consumer sentiment in the quarter and falling retail sales in July suggest household spending softened in Q3. Moreover, business sentiment dipped deeper into negative territory in the quarter, hinting that, despite cheap credit, lingering uncertainties continued to thwart investment.
