Georgia - GDP (billions of Euros)

Incoming data appears more upbeat in the third quarter, after economic growth moderated, albeit remaining solid, in the second quarter. Although economic activity growth ebbed in August on softer expansions of the mining and utilities sectors, its July–August average remained well above that of Q2. Moreover, on average, remittance inflows and electronic card payments picked up in the third quarter, boding well for private consumption. That said, a sharp increase in inflation in September amid a weaker lari might have restrained spending somewhat. Meanwhile, on 11 October, Standard & Poor’s upgraded the country’s credit rating by one notch to BB, citing its strong and resilient growth amid a more challenging external backdrop, and relatively sound institutional framework.
