Bosnia and Herzegovina - GDP

The economy gained steam in the fourth quarter of 2018, supported by stronger household spending, a modest pick-up in government consumption and a recovery in the external sector. On the downside, total investment nearly flatlined in the quarter. Turning to this year, momentum appeared to weaken in the first quarter: Industrial production contracted in January and February on broad-based declines across sectors, while merchandise exports tumbled year-on-year in January. In political news, the government deadlock dragged on in recent weeks. On a brighter note, on 8 March S&P Global Ratings confirmed its sovereign rating for the country, and upgraded its outlook to positive on solid economic prospects once a government is formed.
