Vietnam: Merchandise exports growth remains robust in June
Latest reading: Merchandise exports soared 17.4% annually in June (May: +22.7% year-on-year). The strong performance came largely on the back of frontloading of exports ahead of U.S. tariffs. Meanwhile, merchandise imports climbed 20.4% in annual terms in June (May: +19.3% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 2.9 billion surplus in June (May 2025: USD 0.6 billion surplus; June 2024: USD 3.2 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend pointed down, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 19.5 billion surplus in June, compared to the USD 19.9 billion surplus in May.
