June 28, 2019

According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, consumer prices fell 0.09% in June over the prior month, contrasting May’s 0.49% increase. June’s fall was driven by lower prices for transport, communication and housing.

Inflation declined from 2.9% in May to 2.2% in June, remaining in line with the Central Bank’s target of below 4.0% inflation. Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up from 1.9% to 2.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 3.2% in 2019 and 3.8% in 2020.
