Latest reading: Retail sales rose 0.5% on a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis in September, following a 0.6% rise in the previous month. September’s reading contrasted market expectations of a fall. In the month, IT sales volumes grew strongly alongside continued growth among non-store retailers, where online jewellers reported strong demand for gold.
In annual terms, retail sales were up 1.5% in September, following 0.6% growth in the previous month.
