United Kingdom: Inflation increases in September
Inflation came in at 10.1% in September, which was up from August’s 9.9% and slightly above market expectations. Looking at the details of the release, food and housing and utilities prices rose at a quicker pace in September compared to the previous month, while price pressures for transportation eased.
Annual average inflation rose to 7.6% in September (August: 7.0%). Meanwhile, core inflation rose to 6.5% in September, from August’s 6.2%.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.50% over the previous month in September, matching August’s reading.
