United Kingdom: Industrial production stagnates in September
November 9, 2018
Industrial production was flat in September over the prior month according to the Office for National Statistics, matching August’s revised figure (previously reported: +0.2% month-on-month). The result was driven by growth in the manufacturing sub-sector, which was offset by contractions in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning; water supply, sewerage and waste management; and mining and quarrying sub-sectors.
Industrial production was flat in annual terms in September, down from August’s revised 1.0% figure (previously reported: +1.3% year-on-year). Annual average growth in industrial production declined from 1.7% to 1.4%.
