United Kingdom: Industrial production contracts for third straight month in November

Industrial production decreased 0.4% in November over the prior month according to the Office for National Statistics, down from October’s revised 0.5% fall (previously reported: -0.6% month-on-month). November’s figure was driven by contractions in the mining and quarrying; manufacturing; and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning subsectors, while the water supply subsector was flat over the previous month.
Industrial production fell 1.5% in annual terms in November, down from October’s revised 0.9% decline (previously reported: -0.8% year-on-year). Annual average growth in industrial production declined from 1.1% in October to 0.8% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial production will increase 0.8% in 2019 and 1.0% in 2020.
