Ukraine: Industrial output growth drops in May

June 27, 2019

Industrial production grew 1.6% over the same month last year in May, below April’s 5.2% expansion. April’s result marked the strongest expansion in industrial output since January 2017. A sharp cool-off in manufacturing output largely drove the deceleration.

Meanwhile, on a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial output contracted 0.9% in May, contrasting April’s 0.9% expansion. Annual average growth in industrial production ticked down to 0.8% in May from 0.9% in April.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial output will grow 2.1% in 2019, which is up 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2020, the panel expects industrial production to rise 2.8%.
