Ukraine: Industrial output shrinks at fastest pace in nearly five years in April

Industrial production plunged 16.2% over the same month last year in April, after a 7.7% drop in March and marking the worst result since May 2015. Steeper contractions in manufacturing; mining and quarrying; and utilities supply sectors drove the overall crash in output.

Meanwhile, the annual average variation in industrial production came in at minus 3.2%, down from minus 1.5% in March.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial output contract 5.1% in 2020, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2021, the panel expects industrial production to rise 3.3%.
