Thailand: Manufacturing production shrinks more quickly in August
Latest reading: Manufacturing fell 4.2% in annual terms in August, following a 3.8% fall in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, production in August worsened for food products (-5.5% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.2% in July), automotive vehicles (-8.0% vs -7.2% in July) and chemical products (-4.2% vs -1.7% in July). In contrast, output improved for computer and electronic products (+10.0% vs +6.4% in July) and refined petroleum products (-8.0% vs -16.5% in July).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, manufacturing declined 2.1% in August, following a 2.2% decline in the previous month.
