Taiwan: Industrial production accelerates in September
Latest reading: Industrial production increased 15.5% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 13.7% rise in the previous month. As in past months, production was driven chiefly by booming manufacturing output as rising global AI demand boosted IT and electronics sales.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in September improved for manufacturing (+16.9% on a year-on-year basis vs +14.8% in August) and mining and quarrying (-6.5% vs -10.9% in August). In contrast, the reading for electricity and gas supply softened in September (-10.0% vs -6.8% in August). Finally, the variation in water supply was the same as in the prior month (-2.3% in September and August).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production fell 0.1% in September, following a flat reading in the previous month.
