Switzerland: Price pressures decline to lowest level since March 2021 in April
Latest reading: Consumer prices were unchanged year on year in April, following March’s 0.3% inflation. April’s result represented the weakest reading since March 2021 and undershot market expectations. Weaker price pressures for food and transport drove the downtick.
Annual average inflation edged down to 0.7% in April (March: 0.9%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 0.6% in April from the previous month’s 0.9%.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.01% from the previous month in April, which was below the 0.05% increase recorded in March. April’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
