Switzerland: Inflation weakens in December

Consumer prices fell 0.3% over the prior month in December, matching the decline logged in November. December’s drop was primarily driven by lower prices for housing and energy, and transport, but was partially offset by higher prices for clothing and footwear.
Inflation softened to 0.7% in December from 0.9% in November. Meanwhile, annual average inflation came in at 0.9% in 2018, up from 0.5% in 2017.
Switzerland Inflation Forecast
Panelists polled by FocusEconomics expect inflation to average 0.9% in 2019, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2020, panelists expect inflation to average 1.0%.
