Sweden: Inflation ebbs in September from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices with a fixed interest rate (CPIF) increased 3.1% in annual terms in September, following a 3.2% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were reduced price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (-2.2% on a year-on-year basis vs -1.9% in August) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+3.3% vs +4.7% in August). In contrast, price pressures were higher for transportation in September (0.0% vs -1.4% in August).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices—which exclude energy costs as well as the effect of interest-rate changes—increased 2.7% in annual terms in September, following a 2.9% increase in the previous month.
Finally, consumer prices with a fixed interest rate were up 0.14% in September on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.25% fall in the previous month.
