Spain: Retail sales recover in August
Latest reading: Retail sales increased 0.4% in working day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in August, following a 0.4% decline in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, readings in August improved for large chain stores (+1.2% in working day and seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs -0.6% in July) and small chain stores (+1.9% vs -2.0% in July). In contrast, the reading for single retail stores softened in August (0.0% vs +0.2% in July).
In annual terms, retail sales rose 4.5% in August, following a 4.7% increase in the previous month.
