The Spanish Board of Architects approved 6,896 new construction permits in November 2019, according to data published by the Ministry of Public Works. The figure was below both the 9,252 permits granted in November 2018 and the 9,341 permits granted in October. On an annual basis, permits plunged 25.5% in November, contrasting October’s 8.8% jump.
The moving three-month sum of permits totaled 24,536 in November, which represented a 2.2% drop from the same period in 2018 and contrasted the 4.4% increase recorded in October. The current number of permits represents a mere fraction of the 268,266 permits that were granted during the July–September 2006 peak.
