Spain: Housing permits dip in February
The Spanish Board of Architects approved 9,086 new construction permits in February, according to data published by the Ministry of Public Works. The figure was below the 9,175 permits granted in February 2019 but above the 8,376 permits granted in January. On an annual basis, permits slipped 1.0% in February, following January’s 10.0% plunge.
The moving three-month sum of permits totaled 25,534 in February, which represented a 2.1% decline from the same period in 2019 and followed the 10.8% dive recorded in January. The current number of permits represents a mere fraction of the 268,266 permits granted during the July–September 2006 peak.
