Slovenia: Inflation edged up in April

April 30, 2019

Consumer prices rose 0.8% from the previous month in April, after a 0.7% month-on-month increase in March. The monthly uptick was driven by higher prices for footwear and package holidays. Meanwhile, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.7% month-on-month in April, matching March’s result.

Inflation edged up to 1.7% in April (March: 1.6%), while harmonized inflation rose to 1.8% (March: 1.6%). Annual average harmonized inflation, meanwhile, matched March’s 1.9% reading.

The Central Bank expects harmonized inflation to average 2.2% in 2019 and 2.3% in 2020. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants project it averaging 1.6% in 2019, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 1.8% in 2020.
