Slovakia: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since June 2000 in September
Harmonized inflation inched up to 13.6% in September, above August’s 13.4%. September’s result marked the highest inflation rate since June 2000. The reading was driven by rising price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as household equipment. Meanwhile, price pressures for transport and hospitality fell.
The trend pointed up, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 9.6% in September (August: 8.8%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation ticked up to 14.2% in September, from August’s 14.0%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.94% in September over the previous month, accelerating from August’s 0.74% increase.
