Slovakia: Economic sentiment posts highest reading since December 2024 in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 98.4 in August from July’s 95.1, marking the best reading since December 2024. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment in the industrial sector and among consumers. Moreover, sentiment in the services sector turned positive, and confidence in the retail sector strengthened. In contrast, sentiment in the construction sector waned.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index increased in August.
