Romania: Inflation hits over two-year high in August
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 9.8% in August, which was up from July’s 7.8%. August’s reading represented the highest inflation rate since June 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-food goods rose at a faster rate in August.
The trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.7% in August (July: 5.3%).
Finally, consumer prices rose 2.10% in August over the previous month, coming in below the 2.68% rise recorded in July.
