Romania: Industrial output growth improves in April
Latest reading: Industrial output expanded 2.3% in seasonally and calendar-adjusted month-on-month terms in April (March: +0.9% mom s.a.). April’s result marked the best reading since June 2024. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output gained traction, and energy production returned to growth. On a less positive note, mining and quarrying output swung into contraction.
On a seasonally and calendar adjusted annual basis, factory output fell at a more moderate pace of 2.4% in April (March: -6.3% yoy s.a.). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.6%, down from March’s minus 2.1%.
