Romania: Economic sentiment deteriorates in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment inched down to 94.4 in August from July’s 94.6, marking the weakest reading since December 2020. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
Weaker sentiment in the services sector marginally outweighed improved sentiment in the retail sector. Meanwhile, sentiment among consumers and in the industrial plus construction sectors was unchanged.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index improved in August.
