Romania: Economic sentiment drops in June
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 97.0 in June from May’s 99.3. June’s result marked the weakest sentiment since August 2022. Consequently, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected weaker sentiment among consumers and in the retail and construction sectors. Meanwhile, confidence in the services sector improved, and sentiment in the industrial sector was healthier.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index improved in June.
