Portugal: Inflation decelerates in September from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 1.9% in annual terms in September, following a 2.5% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were milder price pressures for transportation (+1.7% in annual terms vs +1.8% in August) and restaurants and hotels (+2.7% vs +5.6% in August). In contrast, price pressures were higher for recreation in September (+1.4% vs +1.3% in August). Finally, the changes in food and non-alcoholic beverages and housing and utilities were the same as in the prior month (+4.0% and +2.2% respectively).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 2.4% in September, following a 2.8% rise in the prior month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.97% in September on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.10% decline in the previous month.
