Portugal: Economic sentiment picks up in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 107.0 in August from 106.7 in July. As a result, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
Looking at the details of the release, healthier confidence in the services sector outweighed deteriorating consumer sentiment and weaker confidence in the construction and retail sectors. Lastly, sentiment in the industrial sector remained unchanged from the previous month.
Among indicators excluded from the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in August.
