Portugal: Economic sentiment hits an over-three year high in June
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 107.4 in June, up from May’s 105.9. June’s result marked the best reading since February 2022. Consequently, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger confidence in the construction, retail and services sectors. Moreover sentiment improved in the industrial sector. Still, consumer sentiment weakened in June.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in June.
