Poland: Retail sales fall at sharpest rate since May 2020 in January
Retail sales collapsed 6.0% year-on-year in January (December: -0.8% yoy), marking the sharpest drop since May 2020. Looking at the details of the release, textiles, clothing and footwear sales fell at a sharper pace in January, while food beverages and tobacco sales swung to contraction in January.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at minus 3.2%, down from December’s minus 2.3%.
