Poland: Retail sales decelerate in August
Latest reading: Retail sales were up 3.3% in annual terms in August, following a 5.0% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, readings in August softened for motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts (+9.4% vs +10.7% in July), furniture, radio, TV and household appliances (+13.9% vs +15.3% in July) and food, beverages and tobacco (-3.4% vs -0.4% in July). In contrast, readings picked up for textiles, clothing and footwear (+18.9% vs +14.7% in July) and fuel (+6.1% vs +0.7% in July).
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, retail sales increased 0.7% in August, following a flat reading in the previous month.
