Poland: Growth in retail sales accelerates in March

April 23, 2018

Retail sales rose 9.2% from the same month a year earlier in March, accelerating from February’s already strong 7.9% year-on-year increase. March’s result was primarily driven by buoyant growth in sales of food; beverages and tobacco products; textiles, clothing and footwear; pharmaceuticals and furniture, radio, TV and household appliances.

Meanwhile, average annual growth in retail sales in March came in at 7.9%, marginally down from February’s 8.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption growing 3.8% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, the panel sees private consumption expanding 3.5%.
