Poland: Inflation jumps in April

Consumer prices rose 2.00% over the previous month in April, following March's 3.30% surge which had marked the strongest increase since January 1996.

Inflation came in at 12.3% in April, which was up from March’s 11.0% and marked the highest print since May 1998. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.5% in April (March: 6.8%).

FocusEconomics panelists project inflation to average 7.4% in 2022, which is up 0.5 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 4.9% in 2023.
