Philippines: Inflation picks up in September
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 1.7% in annual terms in September, following a 1.5% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.0% in annual terms vs +0.9% in August) and transport (+1.0% vs -0.3% in August). Meanwhile, price pressures for clothing and footwear grew at the same pace (+1.7% in September and August). Similarly, the variation in housing and utilities prices was the same as in the prior month (+2.1% in September and August).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.06% in September in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, following a 0.52% increase in the previous month.
