Panama: Inflation is unchanged in August from July
Latest reading: Consumer prices fell 0.4% on a year-on-year basis in August, stable from the previous month’s reading.
Relative to July’s data, price pressures were higher for food and non-alcoholic beverages in August (+0.5% vs +0.2% in July). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for housing and energy (-0.8% vs -0.6% in July) and transport (-1.9% vs -1.5% in July). Finally, the change in clothing and footwear prices was the same as in the prior month (-1.3% in August and July).
Finally, consumer prices declined 0.22% in August on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.07% fall in the previous month.
