Panama: Economic activity growth slows further in May
Latest reading: Economic activity increased 2.9% year on year in May from April’s 4.2%, marking the worst reading since August 2024. Agricultural and manufacturing activity contracted, while the construction, hospitality and transport sectors improved.
On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, economic activity fell 0.2% in May, which marked an improvement from April’s 3.0% decline. Meanwhile, annual average economic activity growth rose to 5.0% in May from 4.9% in April, which marked an over one-year high.
