Panama: Economic activity growth slides to one-year low in June
Latest reading: Economic activity grew 2.2% year on year in June (May: +2.9% yoy). The result marked the worst reading since June 2024. The deceleration was partly due to contractions in construction, fishing and re-exports through the Colón Free Trade Zone which outweighed robust momentum elsewhere in the economy.
Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average growth of economic activity coming in at an over one-year high of 5.1% in June, up from May’s 5.0%.
