Netherlands: Economic sentiment rises above threshold in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 100.7 in August, up from July’s 97.2. August’s result marked the strongest sentiment since September 2024. As a result, the index moved above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier sentiment in the industrial, retail and services sectors. Still, sentiment weakened in the construction sector and among consumers.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier, while the economic uncertainty index rose in August.
