Mexico: Inflation decreases to over four-year low in April
Consumer prices fell 1.01% in April over the last month, a sharper drop then the 0.05% fall recorded in March. The decline was largely driven by lower prices for transportation, clothing and housing.
Inflation sank to 2.1% in April, from March’s 3.2%. April’s figure marked the lowest reading since December 2015. In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.3% in April (March: 3.5%). Lastly, core inflation ticked down to an over one-year low of 3.5% from March’s 3.6%.
