Malaysia: Merchandise exports gain steam in July
Latest reading: Merchandise exports shot up 18.0% year-on-year in July (June: +7.1% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports growth decelerated to 11.1% over the same month last year in July (June: +12.4% yoy).
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 3.5 billion surplus in July (June 2025: USD 2.0 billion surplus; July 2024: USD 1.5 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend improved, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 31.0 billion surplus in July, compared to the USD 28.9 billion surplus in June.
