Malaysia: Inflation increases in October

Consumer prices increased 0.73% over the previous month in October, accelerating from the 0.25% rise recorded in September. October’s result marked the highest reading since January. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation, as well as for housing and utilities picked up pace.

Inflation came in at 2.9% in October, up from September’s 2.2%, the highest print in four months. Annual average inflation rose to 1.7% in October (September: 1.3%).
