Malaysia: Inflation declines to lowest level since February 2021 in May
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 1.2% in May, which was down from April’s 1.4% and represented the weakest inflation rate since February 2021. The moderation was broad-based, with lower price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing and utilities, and transportation.
Annual average inflation ticked down to 1.7% in May (April: 1.8%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.07% over the previous month in May, which was below April’s 0.15% rise.
