Malaysia: Industrial production accelerates in September
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 5.7% in annual terms in September, following a 4.8% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, readings in September improved for manufacturing (+5.0% on a year-on-year basis vs +2.8% in August) and electricity and gas (+2.8% vs +1.2% in August). In contrast, the reading for mining and quarrying worsened in September (+10.2% vs +16.8% in August).
In seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial production fell 0.9% in September, following a 0.3% decline in the previous month.
