Malaysia: Industrial output growth rises in June

Latest reading: Industrial output rose 3.0% in year-on-year terms in June, which was above May’s 0.3% increase. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing plus electricity and gas activity gained steam, and mining and quarrying production contracted at a softer rate.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 2.8% in June (May: -1.4% mom s.a.), the best result since May 2023. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 2.9% in June, down from May’s 3.1%.
